  Worship Services

Each Sunday, we prayerfully seek to journey together as a story unfolds. Time is spent throughout the week finding ways to weave a theme that will point to God, capture the imagination and transform hearts. This journey comes to life by:

The ministry of song
Songs have always served as a way to draw people near to the heart of God. Here at SWC, you will quickly discover that there are no instruments. We are part of an a cappella heritage, which means that we only use our voices.

The ministry of prayer
Throughout the service, prayers will be led by men and women . We are a church that believes in calling upon the name of the Lord, and we do this believing that God hears and that God cares.

The ministry of the Table
This is the center of our worship service. Each week, we join with one another around the Table of the Lord. Jesus is the host that brings us together, and we join as people on common ground to participate in the body and the blood of Jesus. This experience is both a time to remember Christ's death, and a time to call us to enter into the world to share his body and blood with our fellow human beings.

The ministry of the word
The sermon functions as a way to inform and form. It is meant to inform us of Biblical principles and overarching themes and truths found in Scripture. It is also meant to form us into the image of Christ. Biblical stories collide with our current stories to draw us into God's story of his love, redemption, and ongoing work of salvation.

(Please note that we do not exist to cater to the needs and preferences of people when it comes to our Sunday worship services. We refuse to get tangled in the "old hymns" vs. "new hymns" scuffle. Worship is not about getting what we want. Worship is about God and the transformation of his people.)
