Thanks for visiting the Youth and Family section of our website. By clicking on the buttons to the right you will be able to get more insight into how we work with youth and families at Southwest Central.

The "Youth Calendar" has all of the latest events for our youth. Use this to help plan your personal calendar. (We try to keep it updated...)

At Southwest Central, we are committed to working with families as a whole. We believe that disciplship happens best within the home - parents training and teaching their children, children beginning conversations about God with their parents.   During the year, we strive to have classes and activities that include our youth and their parents.  We understand that all families do not look the same,  have the same familial backgrounds, or function in quite the same ways.

Seeking to love others as Christ loves us,  we want to be a welcoming, safe place for one another to live in all our diversity.  As part of the congregation that meets at 4011 W. Bellfort, we want to live into the visions and dreams of the Kingdom of God.

Our youth classes are typically grouped by age and grade:

*Our fully staffed nursery on Sunday mornings and Wednesday   nights care for our youngest, newborn to age 3*

*On Sunday mornings, we have a young children's class for kids age 3-6.

*Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, we have classes for elementary age children.

*And on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, our Jr. High and High School age young women and men gather together.

We desire to provide opportunities for our youth to grow holistically:  spending good time in the Word, talking about and practicing spiritual disciplines, summer camp at Abilene Christian University (see links for details) , wrestling with social justice, engaging in site learning and service experiences, annual family retreat in Galveston, runnning and swimming and playing and sweating, and more.  However, it is important for us to remember not to plan too much or to be busy at all times.  It's so easy to always be on the go in this world we find ourselves in.

"Resources" is an area where we have listed some links to helpful websites.

We are not a perfect group. Weaknesses are present and most likely evident.  These weaknesses, thankfully, cause and lead us to trust more in the providence of our God rather than our rather than our own intuitiveness, "coolness," or popularity.
